Portugal: Day 3: Sintra

http://sanjaburgundy.blogspot.com/2014/01/portugal-day-3-sintra.html

This is the third and last post about my trip to Portugal. You can see the previous two here and here
We chose to visit Sintra - a town in the Lisbon Coast, 28 km from Lisbon. It is World Heritage Site, declared by UNESCO.
I suggest going there in the morning, so you'll have enough time for sightseeing and visiting the palaces and the castles. Between the Pena Palace (Palácio da Pena) and the Moorish Castle (Castelo dos Mouros), we chose the second one, since we didn't have time for both of them.

Even though the castle is just 412m above sea level, the steep trail is about 2 km (bring your sneakers) ;) That's why this post is the most nonfashionable of all. It all pays off in the end - the view of the Atlantic Ocean from up there is breath-taking.
Sintra itself is the most fairytale-like city I have ever seen. It's so charming and enchanting. Even Hans Christian Andersen found inspiration here, describing Sintra as the "most beautiful place in Portugal".
